Listen to Obituary

After ten years of facing and fighting cancer with unwavering strength and courage, Barbara Joy (Lane) Resudek, 70, of Hawkins, WI passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Barb was born on September 9, 1955 to James and Delores Lane, their first child and adored by all. She grew up in Hawkins alongside her siblings, Jim, Jon, Raymond and Melanie in a childhood filled with creativity, laughter and deep family love.

Winters were spent snowmobiling, Summers at the family cabin on the Flambeau River, Fall at the Harvest Festival and later at the Lac A Nookie Lodge with the entire Lane family. Every season was marked by strong bonds with family, lifelong friends, and community.

A true free-spirit, Barb enjoyed life fearlessly and fully. A hippie at heart. She loved the Beatles, Rock & Roll, lived barefoot whenever possible and was unapologetically herself. Creative, stubborn, kind, and generous to her core.

She married her first husband, Dan in 1973. That December they welcomed their son, Jason, whom they heartbreakingly lost the following day. Despite profound loss, Barb leaned on family, and carried on with resilience and grace. She later welcomed two daughters, Jenifer and Brenda dedicating herself to creating a home, rich in love, laughter, music, and unforgettable memories. She kept a tidy but loving home. Always rearranging furniture, making beds before she left each day, macrame projects, kids, neighbors, friends, family, and anyone needing a place to land.

Barb didn’t just mother her own children; she was a second mom to many, opening her heart and her home without hesitation.

Throughout her life in the Prentice area, Barb worked hard and served her community in countless ways including at the Coop Store, her in-laws A&W Restaurant, Mike’s Market & Deli, the Prentice Bowl, the Prentice School, and ANP Dimensional Lumber. Wherever she was, she created warmth, connection, and a good time.

After her divorce, Barb found lasting love with her husband, James Resudek "Rez", whom she married on August 16, 1997, celebrating with a joyful three-day Polish wedding on the family farm. Together they built a life in Rib Lake filled with love, laughter, gardening, canning, community involvement, and a small hobby farm. She worked at Ed’s IGA and helped form a group called Team Santa, to provide a little Christmas magic for kids. They spent time at their log cabin her brother, Raymond built and enjoyed time spent with their family and friends. They later returned to Hawkins to be closer to family. They continued their shared love of gardening, caregiving, and community life.

Barb was a devoted grandma and took immense pride in her granddaughter’s, Olivia and Avery, cherishing every moment spent with them. She found joy in the simple things; working in the garden, mowing her lawn, cooking in the kitchen, attending small community events, family gatherings, and making sure everyone around her felt loved and cared for.

Barb was known. She was loved. She was strong, brave and deeply kind. She made space at her table, in her home, and in her heart. If you were lucky enough to know her, you were lucky enough.

Barb is survived by her wonderful loving husband of 28 years, James "Rez", of Hawkins. Her two daughters, Jenifer (Jeff) Kalander of Prentice and Brenda (Dustin) Bushman of Kennan. Her bonus daughter, Natalie Sandberg of Minocqua. Two granddaughters, Olivia (her fiancé, Kyle) and Avery Bushman. Her mother, Delores Lane. Siblings, Jim Lane, Jon (Brenda) Lane, Raymond (Mich) Lane, and Melanie (Tim) Hawkins. Sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Mogensen, Nancy Schlosser, Kathy (Ray) Mosser, JoAnn (Dave) Koller, and brother-in-law, Stan “Butch” (special friend Bethany) Resudek. She is also survived by Aunts, Uncles, many nieces, nephews and Cousins.

She is preceded in death by her infant son, Jason. Her father, James Lane Sr., her mother and father-in-law, Stanley and Vlasta Resudek, brothers in law, Bill Mogensen and Russ Schlosser. Nephew, Darren Mogensen and her two side-kick cousins, Mary Jo Merget and Greg Olson.
