Carolyn Wiemer Brown, 86, of Ladysmith, WI, died September 22, 2026.

Carolyn taught early elementary students, giving countless children their first love of reading and learning.

Born in Sheldon, WI, Carolyn was the second of seven children born to Charles and Josephine (Kukuczka) Wiemer. After earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, she taught kindergarten in Cornell, WI, before moving to Rome, NY, where she met her husband, John M. Brown. The couple settled in Columbia, PA, to raise their two daughters.

For 30+ years, Carolyn taught early elementary students, giving countless children their first love of reading and learning. She led Girl Scouts, sang in her church choir, and was always first to lend a hand in her community. An avid traveler and lifelong learner with busy hands, she gardened, golfed, danced, and gifted countless cross-stitched, sewn, and knit treasures. In retirement she returned to Ladysmith to be near her siblings and made frequent trips out west to visit her grandsons. Whatever the adventure, she was always ready to go.

She is survived by daughters, Stephanie Ferguson-Brown (Mark Ferguson) of West Linn, OR, and Susan Brown of Ladysmith; grandsons, Cole and Owen Ferguson; sisters, Betty (Roger) Lance of Chugiak, AK, and Doris (Ed) Charbonneau of Lake Nebagamon, WI; and brother, Dennis (Cheryl) Wiemer of Ladysmith. She was preceded in death by John, her husband of 34 years; her parents; sisters, Kathleen Mataczynski and Janet Nielson; and brother, Raymond Wiemer.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheldon, WI with Deacon Craig Voldberg officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carolyn's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
