Claire Genevieve "Gene" Pestel, 84, of Ladysmith, died on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at her home.

Gene is survived by her husband, Merle, 3 daughters; Yvonne Dunn-Pilgrim of Stanfield, AZ, Pam & Steve Korzenieski of Exeland, WI and Lynette & Dave Hoke of Knoxville, IA, 1 son; Howard & Julie Schreiber of Ladysmith, WI, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Ronald Howard of Ontonogon, MI, 1 sister; Doreen Smith of Exeland, 3 step-sons; Gary & Pam Pestel of Ham Lake, MN, Dave & Charlotte Pestel of Kalispell, MT, and Steve & Donna Pestel of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and 1 step-daughter; Beverly Pestel (Bill Gary) of Richland Center, WI, 10 step-grandchildren, and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Ladysmith Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Smith officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith. Gene's family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith and again on Tuesday for an hour prior to service time at the church.
