Edward M. Haasl 69 of Tony; passed away on Sunday; October 16th, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was born February 8th, 1947 in Ladysmith to Harold & Elizabeth Haasl.
Ed worked for 47 years at The Ladysmith Paper Mill ending his career as head of maintenance. He enjoyed classic cars, photography, the outdoors, feeding birds and taking part in community organizations. He was a member of the local Jaycees for many years. Above all else, Ed loved spending time with his family, he was lovingly known as "Poppy" to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially loved July 4th celebrations with family. Ed will be forever remembered for his warmth, kind heart and loving hugs.
Ed married Mary Barger in Ladysmith on December 6th, 1991. He is survived by his wife Mary; 3 sons: Joseph & Caroline of Eau Claire, Andrew & Carrie of Chetek, Keith & Dawn of Beloit; 3 step children: Ron & Jackie Barger of Antigo, Marla & Paul Etten of Shawano, Jess & Melody Barger of Monroeville, OH; former daughter in law Julie Barger; 2 brothers: Tom of Ladysmith, Phil of Anchorage, AK, his former spouse Lerline Rochocki.
He is further survived by 12 grandchildren: Jeremy, Crystal & Quinton, Joshua, Elena, Forrest, Ross & Molly, Jordan, Jeremy & Addie, Elijah, Emma, Anna and Joshua B.; 9 great-grandchildren: Machea, Alexa, Mitchell, Sophia, Fern, Ella, Carter, Blake and Silas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ron.
A Celebration of The Life of Ed Haasl will be held on Friday; October 28th, 2016 at 2:00 PM at The Nash - Jackan Funeral Home In Ladysmith with Deacon Doug Sorenson officiating. Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The Haasl Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 PM until service time.
