Iris M. Kroening

April 20, 1937 — January 26, 2026

Ladysmith

Iris Mae Kroening, 88, of Ladysmith passed away peacefully at Ladysmith Care and Rehab on January 26, 2026.

Iris was born in Ladysmith on April 20, 1937 to Edna and Harold Husom.

She married Richard Kroening on July 23, 1955. They moved to Milwaukee shortly thereafter and their 3 children were all born in Milwaukee. In 1972 the family moved back to Ladysmith where she and Richard owned and operated the Alibi Bar. They raised beef on their hobby farm outside of Ladysmith and she always had a garden in the summer. When not working on a jigsaw puzzle, she enjoyed reading and working on her embroidery projects. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed baking for them. They always knew that Grandma's cookies were fresh from the oven!

Iris is survived by her three children; Michael (Nancy) of Janesville, Rick (Lynn) of Ladysmith and Debra (Todd) Ludvik of Somerset, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Irene Stine of Ladysmith and a brother-in-law, Paul of Ladysmith and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; her parents, Harold and Edna Husom; her brothers: Harold Jr. and Edwin Husom.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

A complete obituary will also be published in the Ladysmith News.
