She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother 'granny' who will be deeply missed.

Janet “Jan” Marie Luebke (nee Schneider) passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family in Ladysmith, WI after a long struggle with health and lung issues on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Janet was born February 22, 1950, in Appleton, WI to the late Elsie and Justin Schneider.

She was in the first graduating class from Appleton East High School in 1968.

She married Richard “Dick” Luebke June 12, 1971, in Appleton, WI, and they later purchased a farm in Brillion, WI. In June 1998, they made the move to the “Northwoods” as Jan called it; purchasing a farm just south of Ladysmith, WI.

Jan had worked office and clerical jobs outside of the home as well as helping Dick with the daily farm chores. Being a true city girl, country life was an adjustment, but eventually it came to be some of the biggest joys, she had a love for caring for the animals, gardening, her flowers and yardwork. If that was not enough to keep her busy, she would be helping with woodworking projects or washing up their antique tractors to get ready for a show. She enjoyed working side by side with her husband thru the good and bad.

Jan had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone about anything! She was always ready for an adventure and let’s go on a road trip, “I found a deal!”

She was so proud of her children and celebrated all their accomplishments. Jan and her husband also opened their home to help foster kids for many years, providing a safe place for them to call home. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother "granny" who will be deeply missed.

Janet is survived by her husband Richard of 55 years and their 2 children, Kelly (Michael) Lavin of Holcombe, WI; Rick (Nikki Hetchler) Luebke of Ladysmith, WI; and grandson Jessie Luebke.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elsie and Justin Schneider, brother-in-law Michael Guyette and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, N4460 Highway 27, Ladysmith, WI with Pastor Chris Christenson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday at the church.

Janet had a good life and will be remembered for her kindness and the love she shared with her family and friends. We will miss you, until we meet again.
