Kathryn Ann Gudis, 78, of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Webster, Wisconsin, following a courageous two-month battle with lung cancer. She was welcomed into the heavenly arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Kathryn was born on September 18, 1947, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, to Cecil and Viola (Hartman) Andrew. During her early married years, she and her family lived in Eau Claire and Bloomer before making Ladysmith their permanent home in 1974.

On June 11, 1966, Kathryn married the love of her life and soulmate, Daniel J. Gudis, in Ladysmith. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage until Daniel's passing on April 12, 2025.

Kathryn's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted mother to her son, Brian Gudis (Lisa Gorsegner), and daughter, Dana Gudis-Brown (Nick Brown). She was a loving grandmother to Cory (Kimberly) Gudis, Michael Gudis (Kristina Princl), Kayla Gudis, Hannah Wiles, Zachary Wiles (Hailey Shearer), and Logan Gudis. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Eli Gudis, Raelynn, Remmington, and Colt Gudis, Rhykor Flynn, and Baby Wiles, who is expected in August 2026.

Kathryn cherished traveling with her late husband, Dan, and especially enjoyed camping during the years their children were growing up. She found happiness in reading books, crocheting, and working on puzzles. One of her greatest pleasures in later years was staying connected with her grandchildren through FaceTime visits, allowing her to remain an active part of their lives.

A 1965 graduate of Ladysmith High School, Kathryn built a dedicated career over many years. She retired as Human Resources Manager/Safety Director at City Forest Paper Mill in Ladysmith. Earlier in her career, she worked in bookkeeping at Jimmy Boy Pizza and spent 15 years employed at Security State Bank.

Kathryn was a faithful and active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She generously volunteered her time assisting at the rectory, participating in Eucharistic Adoration, and, in previous years, bringing Holy Communion to the elderly. Her deep faith guided her life and was a source of strength to all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Bonnie (Larry) Hanson of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and sister Rose (Brent Martin) of Amery, Wisconsin, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel J. Gudis; her parents, Cecil and Viola Andrew; her brother, Michael Andrew of Valdosta, GA; and her sister, Lynda Tuma of Eau Claire.

Kathryn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. While her family grieves her loss, they find comfort in knowing she is at peace with her Savior and reunited with those who have gone before her.

In accordance with Kathryn's wishes, a private ceremony for immediate family and close friends will be held by invitation.
