Obituary

Mary Ann Bates, 86, lifelong resident of Ladysmith, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Dove Healthcare in Osseo, Wisconsin.

To Arlie and Maryann five sons were born; Donald James, Rodney Alan (Annette), Jerald "Joe" Joseph (Lisa), Richard Steven (Deborah), and Brian Douglas (Sherri). They in turn, through blood or through love, blessed Arlie and Maryann with eleven grandchildren; Kristen Nicole, Tracy Renee, Erika Rae, Makenzie Reann, Todd Richard, Jeffrey Richard, Bradley Richard, Alexis Patricia, Michelle Lynn, Victoria Ann, Danielle Leann. Their love in turn blessed the family with ten great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Ann, Braxton Todd, Brady Gene, Carson Tanner, Brody Tanner, Asher Robert, Hudson Jack, Maverik Joseph Loren, Jakson Arthur and Jaedyn Kauryn.

Maryann was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Catherine Schmidt, her husband Arlie, her sons Donald and Joe, and her daughter in law Deborah (Hause) Bates.

Maryann is survived by her three sons Rodney, Richard and Brian and her brother Walt. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends.

A visitation honoring both Maryann and her husband Arlie (who died on October 27, 2016) will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm with a graveside service to follow at 2:20 pm at Riverside Cemetery on Cedar Lane.

The family would like to convey their gratitude to the employees of St. Croix Hospice and Dove Healthcare in Osseo for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Maryann during her time there.
