Nancy L. Bessel, 68 of Ladysmith, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield following a 9-month battle with lung cancer. She was born on December 4, 1957 in Park Ridge, IL to Richard & Grace (Natter) Diehl.

Nancy grew up in Carpentersville, IL, moving to the local area in 1987. She was married to Charles Bessel, Jr. for 24 years. They had 3 children and later divorced. Nancy enjoyed fishing, reading, crocheting, bowling and watching Hallmark movies. She loved going out to monthly dinners and weekly breakfasts with friends. Her favorite times were spent when she was surrounded by her family and close friends.

She is survived by her 4 children; Miranda Diehl of Janesville, Eric Bessel of Bruce, Rick (Rhonda) Bessel of Springbrook and Grace Bessel of Ladysmith, 4 grandchildren and 5 siblings; Chet Diehl of Phoenix, AZ, Ray Diehl of Elgin, IL, Jack (Rhonda) Diehl of South Elgin, IL, Jeff (Lynn) Diehl of Plainfield, IL and Mary (Paul) Letheby of Algonquin, IL.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Grace Diehl and 4 siblings; Peg Fox, Sharon Rodriguez, Ralph Diehl and Ken Diehl.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Lake Holcombe Town Hall, 26179 275th St, Holcombe, WI 54745.
