Obituary

Pearl Ada Martin of Boyd, Wisconsin, formerly of Sheldon, Wisconsin, died December 19, 2025 at the home of her daughter. She was born on January 15, 1929 at Ladysmith, Wisconsin to Ben and Abbie Hershey. She was married to George Martin on September 20, 1949 at Sheldon, Wisconsin. George died May 9, 2009. They lived at Sheldon all their married life. They were farmers and faithful members of the Mennonite church. She was a member of the Shiloh Mennonite Church at the time of her death.

They had nine children; eight survive: Perry Martin of Mishawaka, Indiana, Wanda who is deceased (Nevin married Irene) Yoder, Erma (Virgil) Schrock of Boyd, Wisconsin, Philip (Mary Louise) Martin, of Boyd, Wisconsin, Susan (Philip) Miller of Manistee, Michigan, Christine (Jim) Schlabach of Traverse City, Michigan, Sylvia (Marvin) Christner of Sedalia, Colorado, Owen Martin of Tony, Wisconsin, and Fred (Regina) Martin of Sheldon, Wisconsin. She had 57 grandchildren, 192 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Pearl had six siblings, all of whom predeceased her: Beulah (Howard) Carter, Don (Irene) Hershey, Anna (Norman) Witmer, Olive (Vernon) Moore, Herman (Ella) Hershey, and Louise (Herb) Graber.

Our mother was an avid story-teller with a very good memory. She loved flowers and people. She will be missed by her many friends.

Visitation and the funeral service is planned at the Shiloh Mennonite Church at Conrath on Monday, December 29 from 1-4 pm and 6-8 pm. The funeral service is planned for Tuesday, December 30 at 10:30 am. Visitation is also planned from 9:30-10:15 prior to the funeral at the church. Nash-Jackan Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
