Shirley Mae Liazuk, age 87, of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, passed away on January 7, 2026, at her home.
Shirley was born on May 15, 1938, in Cornell, Wisconsin, to Violet (Storm) & Frank Rose, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in Wisconsin and, following her graduation, lived in Milwaukee for five years. In 1961, she moved to Alaska, where she resided for approximately ten months before returning to Wisconsin. In 1962, Shirley settled in the Bruce area where she lived for approximately 41 years before moving to Ladysmith.
On October 14, 1961, Shirley was united in marriage to Dean Liazuk until their divorce in 1990.
Shirley was employed at the Bruce Carpet Store, Green Acres Bar in Ladysmith, and the Express Mart in Bruce. She was known for her strong work ethic and friendly nature. In her free time, she loved to travel and attend Green Bay Packer games. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and old Western movies & television shows.
She is survived by her 3 children: John (Sandy) Liazuk of Bruce; Blake (Angie) Liazuk of Merrillan; and Gail (Kevin) Smrstick of Ladysmith. Shirley was a proud grandmother to 8 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister, Dotty (Richard) Foster in South St. Paul, Minnesota.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Art; Donald and Glen, and a sister, Audrey.
Shirley Mae Liazuk will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her love of life’s simple pleasures, and the many memories she created with those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Bruce with Deacon Craig Voldberg officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
