Sigurd J. Grindheim, 92, of Ojibwa, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Sigurd was born on September 29, 1933, in Radisson, to Martin and Esther (Haugen) Grindheim. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning a long career with the railroad. Following 39 years of dedicated service, he retired and enjoyed spending his time doing the things he loved most—hunting and fishing.
On April 15, 1961, Sigurd married the love of his life, Faye Grindheim, in Weyerhaeuser. Together they shared many wonderful years of marriage until Faye's passing on October 28, 2025.
Sigurd was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Winter.
He is lovingly survived by his three daughters, Cathy (Scott) Montreuil of Peel, Arkansas, Patti (Benny) Martin of Section, Alabama, and Caroline (Kevin) Anderson of North Branch, Minnesota. He was a proud grandfather to Emily (Eric) Stephenson, Ryan (Stephanie) Montreuil, Melanie Anderson, and Meagan Anderson, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faye; his son, Daniel Grindheim; his parents, Martin and Esther Grindheim; two sisters, Evelyn Veness and Jean Rudi; and a brother, Edgar Grindheim.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith where a celebration of life service will begin at 11:30 AM with Pastor John Bergson officiating. Sigurd will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Faye at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner where he will receive full military honors.
Sigurd will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A complete obituary will also be published in the Sawyer County Gazette.
