Susan M. Staege

Susan M. Staege, 69 of Ladysmith, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at The Homeplace in Stanley after a courageous one-year battle with cancer. She was born on January 30, 1957 in Ladysmith, to Raymond and Josephine (Cibik) Nelson and she was a lifetime Ladysmith resident.

Susan had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved cats; Joey, Lucifer, Eddy, and Tigger. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She was known for her willingness to help others and remained a steady presence for her family through life’s challenges. Susan was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Cassandra (Mike) Little of Ladysmith, Sara (Robert) Gordon of Eau Claire, and Mandy Zivanovich of Eau Claire; as well as 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 siblings, Raymond (Jane) Nelson of Ladysmith, Carol Nelson of Ladysmith, and Judy Brunette of Minnesota, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Josephine Nelson; 2 brothers, John Nelson and Bill Cibik; her sister, Barb Anderson; and a granddaughter, Terina Gordon.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Susan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her resilience, her devotion to family, and the kindness she shared so freely throughout her life.
